Abdrabo<\/p>\n<div>Objective: to estimate testosterone and prolactin levels in chronic Sudanese smokers regardless of their fertility functions.<\/div>\n<div>Materials and methods: the study was conducted at <span class=\"cm_word\" style=\"border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important\">Omdurman area-Khatoum state-Sudan<\/span> during the period from December 2012 to March 2013, it involved a control group of apparently healthy non smokers (N=50) matched for age with a test group of smokers (N=50). The range of both groups was 20-60 years old. Serum testosterone and prolactin levels were measured in <span class=\"cm_word\" style=\"border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important\">Omdurman Military hospital<\/span> by using <span class=\"cm_word\" style=\"border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important\">ELISA<\/span> full automated human analyzer (Human-Germany). Appropriate statistical tests were used to asses\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 significant differences in the means of the studied concentrations between smokers and control group.<\/div>\n<div>Results: The smokers showed lower levels of testosterone [M\u00c2\u00b1SD =3.0\u00c2\u00b11.9ng\/ml] compared with control group [M\u00c2\u00b1SD = 6.1\u00c2\u00b12.8ng\/ml], this difference was considered statistically significant [P = 0.03 which is less than 0.05]. While there is no significant differences in prolactin levels in smokers [M\u00c2\u00b1SD = 7.3\u00c2\u00b1 2.0ng\/ml] compared with control group [M\u00c2\u00b1SD = 7.6\u00c2\u00b11.8ng\/ml P = 0.83 which is higher than 0.05].<\/div>\n<div>Conclusion: The study added <span class=\"cm_word\" style=\"border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important\">further evidence<\/span> for possible <span class=\"cm_word\" style=\"border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important\">harmful consequence<\/span> of smoking on lowering <span class=\"cm_word\" style=\"border-bottom: 1px solid #0000FF !important;text-decoration:underline !important;color:#0000FF !important\">the testosterone levels<\/span> which will affect on male mass muscles as much as male fertility functions in the future.<\/div>\n<div>Key words: Cigarette, nicotine, respiratory, cardiovascular, testosterone, prolactin<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/npaa.in\/journal-ijta\/admin\/ufile\/1376639940IJTA_10_19-22.pdf\">PDF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mowada M.
