Low levels of aerobic capacity are independently associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease mortality.So the aim of the study was to assess and compare the aerobic capacity using 6 minute walk distance between pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women.<o_p><\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 6pt; text-align: justify;\"><b><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri;mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri\">Method<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri;mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri\">: <span style=\"color:#252525\">A comparative study was conducted in Ahmedabad with40 women<\/span> aged between 35-55 years <span style=\"color:#252525\">divided into Group A (Pre-menopausal group) and group B (Post-menopausal). Subjects <\/span>were asked to perform 6 minute walk test. Pre and post<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt;mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri;mso-fareast-font-family:\"Times New Roman\"; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri\"> Heart rate, Respiratory rate, Blood pressure, Borg scale of perceived exertion were recorded of subjects<\/span><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri;mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri\">6 minute walk distance and VO<sub>2<\/sub>max were calculated of all subjects.<span style=\"color:#252525\"> Level of significance was kept at 5%.<\/span><o_p><\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 6pt; text-align: justify;\"><b><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri;mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri\">Result<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri;mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri;background: #F2F2F2;mso-shading-themecolor:background1;mso-shading-themeshade:242\">: <\/span><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri;mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri;color:#252525\">The mean VO<sub>2<\/sub>max for group A was <\/span><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri;mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-weight: bold\">18.30<\/span><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;mso-bidi-font-family:Calibri;color:#252525\">ml\/kg\/min and for group B was 13.51ml\/kg\/min.
